:: Consent for Publication Policy ::
 | Post date: 2026/02/10 |
Overview
The NFHD adheres to the highest ethical standards in medical and scientific publishing, consistent with the principles of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), and PubMed Central (PMC) guidelines.
To protect the privacy and rights of individuals, all authors must ensure that any details, images, or videos that could identify a participant are published only with explicit, written consent.

Requirement for Consent
For all manuscripts that include information, images, or videos relating to an identifiable individual, written informed consent for publication must be obtained from that person.
If the individual is under 18 years of age, consent must be obtained from a parent or legal guardian.
If the individual is deceased, consent must be obtained from the next of kin.

The consent must clearly authorize publication of the material under the applicable Creative Commons license, acknowledging that it will be freely available on the internet and accessible to the general public.

Documentation
Authors must include a statement within the manuscript confirming that written informed consent for publication was obtained.
Editors or reviewers may request copies of the consent form at any stage of the submission or review process.
Consent forms should be retained securely by the authors and must comply with institutional and national data protection regulations.

Templates and Language Versions
Authors may use the Human Research Participant Publication Approval Templates (available in English and German) to obtain consent from research participants or patients when identifiable information and/or media are included.
The consent form must specify that the details, images, or videos will be publicly available online and may be viewed by anyone.

Exceptions
If the images or data are entirely unidentifiable and do not include any personal information, formal consent for publication may not be required.
The final decision regarding whether consent to publish is necessary rests with the Editor-in-Chief.

Editorial Discretion
The NFHD editorial team reserves the right to refuse publication if appropriate consent has not been obtained or adequately documented.
